kyleKyle – 5th Grade

I read “The Sea of Monsters” by Rick Riordan.  This book is very adventurous.  You’ll learn about Gods and Monsters too.  The main character, Percy, is very risky.  You will see that he and his friends will go out to sea without permission to save his camp.  He will find out a Cyclops is his brother!  He even gets turned into a hamster!  Percy fights a 10 foot Cyclops with 1,000 man eating sheep.

You should start with book One – “The Lightning Thief”, then read this book.

I recommend this book to ages 8-10.  Enjoy your reading!

rebeccaRebecca – 5th Grade

I read “Chicken Soup for the pre-teen soul” by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen. This book is so great!  It made me laugh and it made me cry.  I loved it because they are mini stories.  If you don’t have time to read a whole story you could read a small one.  You learn a lot of things from their experiences.  It is great!

I loved “Chicken Soup for the Girl’s Soul” by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen. It is funny, interesting, and sad sometimes.  I’ve read it two times…it’s so good!!!  It is about girls and what they go through in life.  I would recommend it from 4th or 5th grade and up.  It is a little bit for older girls, and it’s one of my favorite books, EVER!

billBill – 5th Grade

I read “The Westing Game” by Ellen Raskin.  It is a great book!  I liked it because, first of all, it grabbed me in the beginning.  It was a very mysterious book, and I like mysteries.  The book is about a guy who is dead, and there are 16 unlikely heirs to his fortune. In order to receive his fortune, they have to play the Westing Game.  To play the Westing Game, you have to find out who Sam Westing’s murderer is.  I recommend this book for ages 10 and up.

gavinGavin – 5th Grade

I liked the book “Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Adventure #4” By Shigekatsu Ihara.
I liked this book because it is a comic book and because it is about adventure.  It has really descriptive words.  I would probably recommend this book to kids’ ages 8-12.

lydiaLydia – 5th Grade

My book was “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” by J. K. Rowling.  I LOVED this book because there’s adventure and triumph.  There was a mystery of how Harry’s name got in the goblet.  There was adventure when he rescued a golden egg from the dragon.  I absolutely love this book.  I think ages 10-14 would be appropriate to read this book.

“Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” is a book I loved a lot!!!
It was a very long novel but I love long books so I can dwell on it for a long time.  I think kids ages 10-14 would be a good age to read this book.

I liked the book, “Mrs. Piggle Wiggle” by Betty McDonald.  This book is about a lady named Mrs. Piggle Wiggle and she has solutions for the craziest things – like “won’t pick up toys”  “Won’t answer” and “Won’t take a bath”  Kids 8-10 years old would find this book interesting.

kellenKellen – 5th Grade

Another great Harry Potter book is “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” I like this book because it can be funny, and it is very likeable because Harry goes on several adventures in the wilderness and other places.  I think kids from 10+ should read this book.

There are so many books that I love!  “The Fire Within” is a book I liked because it is about a boy that moves in and his clay dragon collection comes to life.  I think ages 8-11 years old would like this book.
“Calvin and Hobbes” by Bill Watterson is a great book if you like comics – this book is for you!  This is the funniest book I have ever read.  All ages would like this book.

“Coraline” by Neil Gaiman is a book that makes you read on.  This is a book about a girl who found a little door in her house.  One day she opened the door.  In the door was. another Mother and Father.  Read the book to find out what else happens!

Another book that I liked was “Holes” by Louis Sachar.  This book is like two stories in one book.  This book is about a boy who instead of going to jail went to Camp Green and his punishment was to dig holes.

I love the book, “Bones” by Jeff Smith.  This is a series of books about 3 little bone brothers, Fone Bone, Phoney Bone, and Smiley Bone.  They go on crazy adventures!  You should know that this book is a comic!

One book I don’t recommend for kids my age is “The Wizard Heir”  I didn’t get one bit of it – it was boring.  I think it is a book that is better for adults to read.

Aiyanna – 5th Grade

My book was “Twilight” by Stephenie Meyer.  My favorite part about the book was when Bella found out that Edward was a vampire.  I loved it because Edward said, “Say it, out loud.”  He wasn’t afraid that Bella would tell his secret.  I would recommend this book for kids 5th grade and higher.
