1001booksRecently I was given the book, “1,000 Places To See Before You Die” by Patricia Schultz.
I love to travel, so I was intrigued by the different places listed in this book.  Although my husband and I have managed to cross off several of the places we have always wanted to see in the last few years (Alaska, The Grand Canyon) we realize we are getting a late start here with our Bucket List – so I was curious what other books were out there that would tell me what else I should be doing – before I die.  Here is a small sampling of what is out there:

1,000 Places to See Before You Die, by Patricia Schultz

1001 Natural Wonders You Must See Before You Die: by Michael Bright

1001 Foods You Must Taste Before You Die by Frances Case, and Gregg Wallace

1001 Paintings You Must See Before You Die by Stephen Farthing1000places

1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die by Robert Dimery and Michael Lydon

1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die:  by Peter Boxall

Fifty Places to Fly Fish Before You Die by Chris Santella

Fifty Places to Play Golf Before You Die: Golf Experts Share the World's Greatest Destinations by Chris Santella

So, I guess I better get going with my lists, or I just need to live to be 137 years old if I am going to manage to get all of this accomplished.  Or maybe I’ll just start by concentrating on pages 602 – 612 of 1,000 places to visit – Kauai, Lanai, Maui, Oahu…..

chickensoupmililtaryOur nation's men and women of the military forces have defended our country, insured our freedom, and upheld the beliefs and principles that this great nation was built on. On the 3rd Saturday of May, our nation celebrates Armed Forces Day, to honor the sacrifices of our nation's past and present military.

Having come from a family with strong military roots, my father served in the Army and my stepdad served in the Navy – I often have watched the Armed Forces Day Parade in Torrance and thought about the sacrifices that not only those that serve endure, but also the families and friends that support them.

So I would like to say – to all the men, women and children that have made those sacrifices – that you have my appreciation and gratitude – and I salute you all – the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and Families.

Here are some books that I have enjoyed that I recommend:lovelizzy

My Hero: Military Kids Write About Their Moms and Dads by Allen Appel and Mike Rothmiller
