On Sunday we will celebrate Father’s Day – with cards, gifts, food and whatever special traditions you and your family may have. My Dad has been a great sport over the years, enduring horrendous gifts when I was young - like pictures made of macaroni, bad ties (he never wears ties) and such perennial favorites as soap-on-a rope.
Gift giving has become easier over the decades, especially since he seems to like gift cards and books. So are you stumped for an idea for a gift for your Dad? Here are some books that might be a hit (just in case you can’t find soap on a rope)
Fatherhood by Bill Cosby Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks Dad: 101 Stories of Gratitude, Love, and Good Times by Jack Canfield & Mark Victor Hansen Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Wisdom of Dads: Loving Stories about Fathers and Being a Father by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, and Amy Newmark Just Dads: Nerves of Steel, Wills of Iron, Hearts of Pudding by Bonnie Louise Kuchler A Father's Day Thank You by Janet Nolan and Kathi Ember Happy Father's Day by David C. Cook Geek Dad: Awesomely Geeky Projects and Activities for Dads and Kids to Share by Ken Denmead

The release of the movie “Eclipse” (the 3rd book in the Twilight series saga) is just 2 weeks from today! Last weekend I received a call that I had won tickets to the Twilight convention in Los Angeles, so I took a quick trip down to the Hyatt hotel to check it out.
I have been a big fan of the series, “Twilight” for several years now – and have had multiple book clubs regarding the books – mostly with pre-teen young ladies that I affectionately call “My Twilight Girls” They are as passionate about the movies as they are about the books – and the countdown to “Eclipse” started for them months ago, and with only two weeks to go – the anticipation has reached a fever pitch.
So imagine when 2,000 Twilight fans were packed into a hotel ballroom, and Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson, and Kristen Stewart (the stars of the film) hit the stage. The screaming reached an ear shattering decibel level, most likely not seen in this country since the Beatles arrived in America in 1964. Every time Taylor (who plays Jacob) and Robert (who plays Edward) spoke into the microphone, girls swooned and screamed. I think I found watching the audience more entertaining than what was actually being said on the stage.
So fair warning to anyone out there that is planning on attending the movie “Eclipse” – be prepared for an army of girls that will shriek and wolf howl when one of these hunky guys hits the screen. The audience will be part of the entertainment, but if you are serious about hearing the movie, hopefully the DVD release won’t be too far behind – because watching the movie at home might be your only option to a scream-free viewing. June 30th can’t come fast enough for me – and my “Twilight Girls”
