eclipI started the countdown to the movie “Eclipse” several months ago – along with millions of “Twi-hards” holding their breath for the latest installment of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight saga.  Would the 3rd episode – “Eclipse” be a winner? Would the movie live up to the book?

With millions of devotees (yes, I’m a big fan) of the books – and with the movie being released at midnight last night – based on the reviews I read this morning, and the fan blogs posted today – I would say this movie is going to be a monster hit. Many are even saying it is the best movie so far – better than “Twilight” or “New Moon”.

With only one more book left to film (although I read recently that they will make two movies from the final book “Breaking Dawn” due to its length) I can only wonder how the legion of fans will get their vampire/werewolf fix after the last movie is completed.

Stephenie – please start writing again!  Although I know you have more books than Twilight (The Host, The short second life of Bree Tanner) we want more Jacob/Bella/Edward!  How about finishing “Midnight Sun?”  Give Edward his voice!

OK – so maybe it’s time for me to discover more books – different books….but I still am excited about Eclipse – and we will be having book clubs all this summer for our Twilight fans.  (Except for this weekend – when I will be at the movies - happily watching Eclipse with everyone else)

Happy Reading – and Happy Eclipse!

Growing Up “Disney”

caketopperWhen I was young girl (ages 2-8) my family lived in Garden Grove, right down the street from Disneyland.  I grew up loving all things Disney: Disneyland, Disney Movies, and Disney books.  My favorite book (and I still have it in my office) was Cinderella.  The binding is frayed from so many readings – but I still occasionally glance through it and re-live my childhood.

So I was very excited that the new Toy Story movie was released last week.  Having read the “Toy Story” books to my nephews – I have been waiting impatiently until they visit soon so I can take them to see the movie.

Yesterday I was speaking to a girlfriend (her kids are now teenagers) and she said she saw the movie on Friday.  Did her teenage kids go with her to see the movie?  Nope – she and her husband went – and she said most of the audience were adults – without kids!  Now – they were at an evening showing of the movie, but I guess you are never too old for Disney.

That could be why my husband & I had a “Mickey and Minnie” cake topper on our wedding cake three years ago – I guess it goes to show that once you are a Disney kid – you are always a Disney kid.
