On Saturday mtreey husband & I attended a memorial – a family friend’s Mother had passed away.  It is always sad to say goodbye to someone that touched your life – and this lady was especially known in her family and circle of friends for being a loving, giving person.

During the memorial, songs were played, stories were told, tears and laughter shared during touching moments.  The most poignant moment for me was when her daughter-in-law, a literacy instructor, went up to the pulpit and read one of my favorite children’s books – Shel Silverstein’s “The Giving Tree”

“The Giving Tree” is about a tree that gives her all to the little boy she loves.  It is a classic story that has touched people for over 40 years and it was such a perfect choice to honor a Mother that gave so much love to her family.  Thank you to the Jensen family for such a tender tribute to Janice.
