A New Whimpy Kid!

Last July I blogged a plea to Jeff Kinney to write another “Wimpy Kid” book to add to the series.  I would love to think he heard my request – or perhaps he is just responding to thousands of other fans – but I am happy to report that a new “Wimpy Kid” called “Dog Days” will be released on Monday, October 11^th. 

Parents often ask me if reading comics “counts” as reading for kids.
Absolutely! 

Although we would all love to steer the kids towards those Newbery & Caldecott winning books – sometimes just having your child pick up a book and enjoy reading is worth it – great literature can come later once they learn to love reading! 

So – Jeff Kinney – thanks – and I will be in line at the bookstore on October 11^th!See you there!
